Winter Climbing of Mt Washington or Mt Lafayette
During our single day winter ascents of Mt Washington or Mt Lafayette you will be introduced and gain experience with proper techniques in crampon and ice axe use. There wil be time for plenty of practice to develop solid and efficient crampon movements on moderate snow and low angle ice. The ice axe is essential for balance and for safety. We will teach piolet canne and self arrest skills. Other mountaineering skills introduced include clothing and equipment selection, navigation, and avalanche hazard assessment.

Willeys Slide Ice and Snow Climb
This ice and snow climb is as wide as a football field and twice as long. Willey's provides and excellent teaching and training ground for aspiring mountaineers. A varietyof mountain climbing techniques are applied on this route such as snow travel, low angle ice climbing, short roping and pitching, snow and ice protection and more.

Cinema Gully Ice and Snow Climb
This climb located at the top of Crawford Notch combines technical ice climbing skills with snow climbing skills in a mountaineering setting and is one of the most popular climbs in Crawford Notch. After completing Cinema Gully you will continue up the east slabs on mostly snow and gain the spectacular views from the summit of Mt Willard.

Ice and Winter Mountaineering in Huntingtons Ravine
On this one day climb of a classic route like Odells Gully, Pinnacle Gully or North Gully you will get the true feeling of winter mountaineering. Your day will begin early from the Pinkam Notch Center to allow ample time for the approach and ice climb to follow. If we are ahead of schedule you may opt to continue for the summit of Mt Washington making this a full day of ice climbing and winter mountaineering combined.

Mount Washington Ascent Weekend
After a group meeting at the hotel, our guide(s) will take you to a near by mountain to work on crampon and ice axe technique. This day will serve to help folks streamline their gear, and gain skills to make the mountain ascent more efficient. Day 2, After an early wake up, your group will drive to the base of Mt. Washington. Today's goal will be a safe ascent and decent of Mt. Washington. Using the skills gained from the previous day. Half of the day will be spent above tree line battling some of the highest recorded winds in the world. This will be a long day, leaving the hotel at 5:30 am and arriving back at the base of Mt. Washington in the early evening.

Mount Washington Ascent and Overnight
The group will meet at the Pinkham Notch Visitor's Center. There you will meet your guide(s) and go over the weekend's itinerary. The group will hike up to the Hermit Lake Shelters. (3-sided lean-to shelters) Here the group will drop the heavier camping gear and enjoy a quick snack. The group will then head into one of the 'ravines' and practice mountaineering skills, including ice axe and crampon use, self arrest, and basic mountain travel. The group will then descend back to the shelter to cook dinner and rest up for the next day. Day 2, After a hearty breakfast the group will pack the essentials and head up one of the ascent lines towards the summit of Mt. Washington. Weather and conditions permitting the group will ascend to the summit and return by one of the various descent lines back to the shelter, to retrieve the camping gear and to hike back down to the visitor's center.

Backcountry Travel Clinic and Overnight
In the morning you will meet your guide(s) and go over gear, packing, and the weekend's itinerary. From there you will drive to the trailhead. The group will hike into the wilderness and use opportunities to go over travel techniques in deep snow. Snowshoe, crampon, and ice axe techniques will all be covered. In the early afternoon, a campsite will be located and created. Or guide(s) will demonstrate and explain all of the intracisiies that go into camping in the wilderness in the wintertime. Day 2, After a warm breakfast, your group will break down camp and begin the trek out. On the trip out our guide(s) will continue to help you refine your travel techniques as well as introduce some of the basics of navigating by map and compass. You will arrive back at the trailhead in the early evening.
