White Mountains: Mount Washington & Mt Cardigan Jan-Mar 2007

The 2007 winter was full of a wide variety of weather and conditions. The east coast had an extended warm trend in mid January and many folks were thinking that winter would never arrive. It appeared that way to anyone living at locations south of the White Mountains. If you made the journey to New Hampshire it was different, winter conditions existed at higher elevations. This series of photos is from numerous two day introduction to mountaineering courses which took place on Mount Cardigan and Mount Washington during the 2007 season. The photos tell a story of lots of fun in a variety of conditions, arctic cold, wind driven snow, freezing rain, and white outs.

Full face coverage was needed for above treeline travel. Temps were -10 with high winds.

Happy to be on the summit.
