Aid and Big wall climbing are a technical mystery to many, but they don't have to be. We offer several courses on the related subjects.
Aid Climbing - Introduction
Have you have been lead climbing for a few years and are now looking into get way off the ground and up some unlikely faces? Aid climbing can bring you to some very beautiful exposed faces. It is also an empowering set of skills to add to your climbing repertoire. During this 2-Day course our guides will cover the following topics: • Gear Selection and Efficient Organization. • Leading a pitch while placing gear for direct aid. * • Movement in Etriers • Ascending (Jugging) • Cleaning a Pitch • Efficient Transitions • Belay Station Organization • Hauling Techniques Dates: Arranged on a custom basis. Aid Climbing - Advanced
So you have some aid climbing experience under your belt, but now you are having dreams of Yosemite or Zion. This course will help prepare you for your future multi-day ascents. Join our guides for a 2-Day Advanced Aid Climbing clinic. Skills taught during this course will build upon introductory skills, refining them and making them more efficient as well as introduce advanced aid techniques. The Advanced course includes topics such as: • Trip Planning and Preparation • Multiple Systems Management • Short Fixing • Leading Pendulums • Bivy Selection and Organization • Hooking, Heading, and Piton-craft. • Complicated Cleaning • Self-Rescue Dates: Arranged on a custom basis. Big Wall Course
Our two-day Big Wall course covers techniques necessary to climb multi-day aid climbing routes. Even if you've climbed several walls you're guaranteed to learn a lot. You will practice setting up appropriate big wall anchors, hauling, dealing with stuck haul bags, cleaning traversing pitches, and other related skills. You can even have a portaledge bivouac if you desire! If you want to climb on the Big Stone, this course is for you! Dates: Arranged on a custom basis. Cost: $600 private, $350 semi-private (all prices per person)
Endurance Climbing CourseTired of bivouacs? Do you want to climb Half Dome, El Cap, or another wall in a day? If so our two-day endurance Climbing course is for you. Art has completed speed climbs in Yosemite Valley and can teach you how to move quickly up the rock. Cannon Cliff or Cannon Cliff offer ideal locations for such courses. Come learn the "secrets" and start moving up the rock! Dates: Arranged on a custom basis. Cost: $600 private, $350 group of two, (all prices per person) |
