Intermediate Ski Mountaineering Tour

On MMG’s intermediate ski mountain tour we will complete what is known as the “Grand Tour”on Cardigan. The ascent begins up the skin track on the Dukes Ski Trail to the summit of Mt Firescrew. From there we then traverse the exposed ridge in variable snow, ice and rock conditions to the summit of Mt Cardigan.

From the exposed summit a narrow ski trail leads down in the forest to the classic Alexandria ski trail which descends into the east facing drainage to the base on the mountain. On this tour we will utilize skis with climbing skins and if needed use crampons to traverse the ridge and gain the summit. A spectacular full mountain tour to prepare one for longer tours such as the Haute Route or Ortler traverse in the Alps.

Daily (December to April)

Cost:
